How have you dealt with it when someone hates a gift you've made them? One that you made specifically because you thought they would love it...

Sorry if this is a bit of a downer, but I put my heart and soul into making an extremely difficult crochet gift for a family member (took me 2 years to build up the skill enough to make it) and he just clearly hates it. Barely looked at it or acknowledged it when I thought he would have loved it.
I'm having a hard time moving on from the disappointment and can't seem to just "let it go." Does anyone have something specific they do when they have dealt with a similar situation? I have very limited emotional bandwidth and want to move on, I figure if anyone has some good advice it would be this community!
