Not too warm stitch suggestions?

I was planning on making a waffle stitch scarf or alpine stitch scarf for myself but I've moved to where it rains all winter and rarely snows 😂
Any suggestions for lighter stitches? I was thinking block stitch scarf but am open to ideas!
