Thick and dense pattern?

My very first baby, I made a HUGGGE (probably king size) blanket with a simple double crochet, was in college and it took me like a decade - I love the weight of the blanket, she thick. But when I sleep with it, air gets through and it’s kind of cold. I love that’s she’s heavy but wouldn’t mind making something that’s really dense and therefore heavier, and no air to get through. I thought about sewing it to some fabric but wanted to explore patterns that are dense for my next large blanket. Ideas??
