Advice needed! How to sew on black piano keys without outline stitches showing on the back?

Hi r/crochet,

I’m in the process of making a piano blanket and I want to start crocheting on the black piano keys on. I would prefer that the stitches of the black keys didn’t show up on the back of the blanket; alternatively, to have the blanket be double sided and have the solid black (and not just the stitches outline) showing up on both sides.

My potential solutions so far was to

  1. Crochet individual solid black keys, and then surface crochet they shape of the black keys on the blanket with WHITE wool (example photos are in black wool for now) and then sew on the black keys into the surface crochet stitch. (So not directly onto the blanket) Is this a viable option? It does seem like a lot of work.

  2. Like above, crochet solid black keys, and then glue them on with a fabric glue. Seems a lot simpler but not sure how that would affect the wool, or if it would work at all.

  3. Double the amount of solid black keys, and sew them on the front and back. Again, a lot of work, but at least the blanket would be reversible?

Any thoughts on which option sounds best? Or any other solutions?

I added photos as a reference.
