Hi! I'm a beginner and I'm trying to make my first hat from this pattern

I'm finding it difficult to know if my shape with turn out like theirs, I'm at round 9 and beyond but my shape looks more straight while theirs flares out. Does that make sense / will mine look more like that when I keep going? Thank you!
