Yarn Suggestion for Garden Bag

Hi! I'm pretty new to crocheting (have been dabbling since I was a kid but really ramped up my practice in the past few weeks) and I want to make a sturdy bag for harvesting from my garden or foraging around for wild edibles, but I'm not sure what type of yarn to get. I've read that cotton is the way to go in terms of stretching, but I know I want something that can preferably withstand some spikes from cactus fruit. In my head my ideal yarn is a larger yarn (I don't know much about the different sizes, heh), but really I'll use whatever has the best chance of working.
