Star Wars Crochet Characters

Hi! I'm making all 24 characters from the Star Wars kits. Has anyone done them? How did they turn out? I've done several and they're a bit disastrous. I'm all about quality and the final look of the project. I'm not getting anything close with these. Am I doing something wrong? I was thinking of using the base of the pattern but altering it to fit a more...polished look. That seems like a lot of brain power and effort. I don't know. Which way should I go with it? TiA!
