How to attach flat crochet pieces on a wool beret?

Hi, I am new in this subreddit and would like to ask something about crochet.
I have this idea to have random 2D crochet pieces on my beret. Sort of like customizing my wool beret with random crocheted objects like fruits, animals, letters and etc.
What would be the best way to attach them on a wool beret? I was thinking of sewing them in, but if there are other suggestions to make it seamless, please let me know.
