Help! Trying to not twist a long starting chain...

Hello everyone! I'm about to start a cowl pattern using a fingering weight yarn and I have to start with a pretty long chain.
Any helpful suggestions for not having it twist around the first few rows? I've tried and given up on a few other patterns when, no matter what I did and how careful I was, I would get to the end of the row and it'd be upside down...
