Bathroom puff/shower scrub that works?

Hi, I made a bathroom puff (the 400 stitch one, thankfully I wasn't crazy enough to do the big one), but for some reason it... kinda didn't work. The soap didn't lather and all I was left with was a bunch of soggy cotton. Now, I don't want to imply that the pattern is at fault (after all I was not using the same yarn, just the same weight), but I would like to know if any of you could recommend a good pattern that will work with either Yarnart Creative or yarn with weight of 2.
