Any tips for a beginner?

Hey guys! I was recently working on a project to give to my mom, and I wanted to add a little touch of crochet, so I picked up my first crochet hook and some yarn. I honestly didn’t think I’d like it (my mom tried to teach me when I was younger but I couldn’t get the hang of it), but I was surprised when I totally fell in love. I haven’t completed a full project yet, but I want to. Do you guys have any tips for a beginner?
