swimsuit lining?

i’m getting into making more crochet swimsuits made of 100% cotton! I wanted to start lining my suits to make them have a more professional, durable look and overall to cover private parts. does anyone have any experiences in this? my joanns sells swimwear lining (90% polyester 10% spandex) but it only comes in neutral/black colors. would a spandex be a decent and cheaper alternative that gives me an array of different colors?
