Can I block a joined blanket?

Writing this on behalf of my partner. She's recently started crocheting and has started a blanket made of squares. The blanket is almost finished and all joined together, however some squares vary in size making the blanket a bit squiffy. She discovered blocking a few days ago and has brought a blocking board, the board is too small for the entire blanket to be blocked on but we are wondering if we could block the blanket in sections to straighten it out a bit. Thanks.
