Has anyone seen acrylic yarn melt?

Ive heard about it so much ever since I started crocheting but Ive never witnessed it melt. Im curious what it looks like but cant find any pictures or videos. Its a weird question but does anyone have pictures of melted acrylic or can describe it. Im seriously considering taking the acrylic yarn scraps ive got from my current project and exposing them to some heat to see if my hypothesis of “it melt cool” is correct
