Beginner help- problem when decreasing in a spiral / tiring off a sphere

Hey everyone! I’m moderately experienced with crochet, and recently I’ve been doing a lot of amigurami and stuffed animals! Most of these stuffed animals have a circular body, and I have no problem with the beginning of the circle or starting it off. The problem comes at the end, when I’m decreasing- I try my best to make it as tight as I can but I always end up with holes far apart from each other, and it is quite ugly. Any tips are greatly appreciated! I will link a photo below. Photo
