bernat equivalent?

hey you guys! i'm super new to crochet (like this is my first project from last week new), but i made this blanket with bernat big blanket yarn for my mom and she loved it! i want to make one for my dad with a different pattern that uses smaller yarn, so is there any brand that has that same chenille-like feel but is thinner? i've looked into the regular bernat blanket yarn, but i was wondering if you guys had any other recommendations. also, any general tips you might have would be helpful!
