Making a baby blanket for a mother who miscarried at 8 months

My friend miscarried at 8 months pregnant and I offered to make her a baby blanket with her daughter's name on there. She loved the idea. Do you guys have any recommendations regarding patterns (I was thinking about something tapestry because I'll crochet in her name), yarntypes and other things to add to the blanket?

frustrated and need help :(

frustrated and need help :(

i really want to be good at crochet, i’ve been at it about a couple months now.

no matter what i do i ALWAYS mess up count in every single project. i usually do amigurumi so i work in a spiral and i will count in my head, use stitch markers, follow the pattern religiously, i count each stitch after every single row to make sure there’s enough but SOMEHOW, somewhere it still at some point wont add up 😔😞

it’s extremely frustrating when i’m already done with a head, face, eyes and stuffed it and somewhere after that, forget it. it’s impossible for me to tell what i did when in the spiral.

i’m so frustrated and i desperately want to be good at it and keep going but it gets so hard and discouraging when i seem to be doing every thing right and still fail :((((
