weaving in ends question - beginner

hi! I just started crocheting and I’m making a bag (made up of little squares) as my first project :) I just had a question about weaving in ends... I watched a YouTube video on how to weave in the ends when you’re done and so I followed those instructions and weaved in the end of my square. However, I was wondering should I also weave in the start (where the first slip knot originally was) or can I just cut that short little tail off? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I’m learning!
