Blanket size help needed

Blanket size help needed

I’m making a particular size blanket (95” wide) and I have done a foundation double crochet row. I did a swatch and calculated what I needed to do ahead of time. Normally I crochet medium tight so I sat and calmly crocheted the foundation row in a nice easy manner. So easy that it’s 6.5” too wide. Due to my homemade pattern, I cannot just chop off 6.5” of stitches, and I don’t want to start over with the total 315 stitches.

I’m torn between staying with my current hook and hoping my stitches will tighten up the foundation row, versus maybe going down half a hook to tighten things up. I can easily add rows to the height, but cannot manipulate the width to have less stitches, again due to the pattern.

The blanket is obviously going to be large so I don’t want to make it more so if it isn’t necessary.

Please share your thoughts and experiences to help me with this decision! Thanks!
