First wearable nerves

First wearable nerves

I’m a beginner in crochet, and like the title says, I’m experiencing some first wearable nerves! So far, I’ve made a scrunchie, head band, a pouch for my iPad, and dabbled in a bit of amigurumi as my starting point — all of which I am pretty happy with.

I don’t know if I am ready to attempt a wearable, but I have no other projects on my list right now. I’m a bit of a perfectionist, i made a small mock up of the cardigan I want to make using very old yarn of poorer quality given by my Mother, because the video pattern I was following is rather vague in my opinion.

I also want to make some alterations to the stitches, replacing hdc with Suzette stitch, but I’m not going to make a second mock up, which is what is scaring me from actually starting the project: not knowing if the Suzette stitch will greatly alter the piece. I also made a couple of mistakes in the mock up, so while I’m Glad I did make the mock up beforehand, it’s also slightly deterring me from starting the actual project.

Should I just dive right in and start, or should I pick up another project in the meantime, and brush up on some of the basics first? Or am I just overthinking everything and letting the perfectionist in me stop me? Additionally, are there any tips for attempting a wearable for the first time that I should know?
