Acrylic + wool for newborn baby??

Hi! I'm trying to make a comforter for my niece that will be born in December. I'm fairly new to crochet and when I bought the yarn I didn't look at composition. It is 50% wool 50% acrylic. Is it okay to use it for such a small baby? I also know it is better to embroider the eyes instead of using safety ones. Any other advice? Thank you so much!!
