what sizes are granny squares when making a bucket hat?

so, we all know to make a crochet bucket hat [with granny squares],, u need 5 granny squares. i'm just curious, and i can't really do the math very well. how many inches should the granny squares be? i was following a tutorial, unfortunately her yarn is bigger than mine so her crochet hat fits her head well but when i was doing the same exact thing she did, my granny squares were smaller.
i think her granny squares were 5 inches but does anyone have a chart or something or what inches should the granny square be so it can fit into an adult's head?
