Good Cardigan Fiber for Warm Weather?

Hello! I'm interested in making my first cardigan, but I also live in AZ where it stays in the 90s even in the winter. What would be a decent fiber to make a cardigan out of for a place that rarely drops below 60? I want to try and avoid acrylic fibers, but idk if wool would be too hot? And I feel like cotton tends to come thinner than the worsted I'd like to use. Any suggestions?
