Tips for Tunisian beginner

I'm an avid crocheter, but I want to get into Tunisian. I tried knitting as I am desperate to make a lovely, drapey sweater, but the motion was really painful for my wrists. I'm just in love with what I've seen of Tunisian and a can hardly wait to learn. Does anyone have any recommendations for hooks? Should I get the long, straight ones or the ones with the flexible cable? Any size recommendations? Stitches or patterns that you enjoyed starting with? Basically, the only thing I know about it is that I want to do it so I'll take any tips you have about it. Thanks!
