How to attach clay/model magic to crochet?

Hi, I'm planning on making a furby style plush toy soon, but as I can't get a proper furby faceplate I'll be making my own out of most likely model magic, but possibly clay. I'm not sure how to go about attaching the face to the main body, I don't think I'll be able to sew it on without the stiching being really visible. Would fabric glue or hot glue work? The yarn I'll be using is 100% acrylic.
