How to block very large projects?

How do you guys do it?
I might have gone slightly insane and started a king-sized blanket in a stitch that will really need blocking (using the crochet between the lines pattern for a complicated temperature blanket - haha all sc is going to send me mad).
Do you block as you go in sections for huge projects?
Or in sections at the end?
I do have blocking mats and pins, but no way will I have the space to block it all as one piece at the end. I'm hoping that any inconsistency in blocking will not be too noticeable at the end if I'm careful, because I don't think I'm going to have much choice with this.
I'm wondering how is best to tackle this before I get much further into the rows (currently at row 35/723!)
Any advice or stories of experience is much appreciated :)
