Am I doing bobbins right?

Am I doing bobbins right?

I'm making a graphghan with a lot of color changes so I decided to try making bobbins. I tried to count how many stitches I'd need of each color, and making bobbins that long. Then I was like "Onoooo what if I run out of yarn before I'm done with that patch of color? I'm not making a whole other bobbin for 2 stitches and have to weave in unnecessary ends."

So I thought I'd measure how much yarn 1 DC uses and measure yarn that way including extra space carrying it up a row or if I have to cut it. Then I was like "Heck no I'm not using a ruler to measure yarn that's BS."

Another strategy I come up with was to count how many stitches plus extra for carrying and cutting, then just make that many DCs in the round separately. I like this method best so far for accuracy but it takes a LOT of extra work and this is a queen size blanket I'm making.

Am I being paranoid? Is there a better way to make bobbins so you don't have to sew a lot and/or waste yarn?
