I need help deciphering a pattern

Hi r/crochet,
I've decided to take on crocheting a sweater. For context, I have made blankets and scarves in the past, but this is new territory for me. I'm using the pattern here (size - XXXL):
I've made my 136 chain and worked the 1 chain stitch. But the next part "1 single crochet in each of the first 2-0-4-0-4-2 chain stitches", I'm not understanding it.
Can anyone help me understand what this means? I would really appreciate it. Yes I'm aware that this pattern is for experienced crocheters, but I want to learn and make this sweater!
