Best things to start with as a beginner?

i've just started crocheting about a week ago - i've mastered the tunisian simple stitch (it's so fun!!) and single crochet but..... well that's not really much. i want to make something cool but i've been struggling :-( i attempted a tutorial marked as "super easy for beginners!" and couldn't make it more than a few steps in so i'm feeling disheartened. where should i start?
