Stitch suggestions for a cotton-silk-acrylic blend yarn? All ideas are appreciated

I’m trying to make a scarf for my hubby’s gran and so far I’ve tried these from different patterns
- Wide Half Double, HDC
- HDC cluster, Herringbone HDC, Sc
It’s the most uncooperative yarn I’ve worked with. It’s slippery and because of that I end up making lose stitches except for the foundation chain. I don’t think the patterns I’ve used go well with this yarn?
