Are ergonomic hooks worth it? If so, any particular brand?

Some background for me personally: I'm still in my teens, and I've been crocheting since I was about 5. I've been debating getting ergonomic hooks mostly because they're pretty, but I need to justify the expense. I rarely get any hand pain with my normal hooks, although I will get elbow and shoulder pain if I crochet for a few hours on end. I have one ergonomic hook I bought at Walmart, which I love, but I can't tell if it's actually a king a difference. Will using ergonomic hooks actually benefit me or help me avoid arthritis or the like in the long run?
